Why I am not blogging

This semester has already been incredibly busy.  I have already turned in 8 papers (one of them over 20 pages long) and completed 15+ quizes.  I kind of hate to admit it, but I think this is the busiest semester of my college career.  I am going to finish strong!

I may not be blogging much this semester, but I will be:
  • Getting scuba certified (yes, this is a class)
  • Working at the Adobe Marketing Summit (Event Planning class)
  • Working with a team to create a long-term, strategic campaign for the Children's Miracle Network (Capstone class)
  • Taking my last general (history of civilization) and thinking about how I might see these famous places later this summer (probable trip to Europe)
  • Learning the basics of the "language of business" (Accounting 200, I am talking about you) and basics of statistics (which has been super easy so far, due to my statistics-crash-course Communications Research class last semester)
  • Working 16-20 hours per work (planning events, working with recruiters, researching why there is a decline in women studying computer science)

Meanwhile, I cannot stop thinking about this video.  I know that the message is true.  During some of the most tumultuous times of my life (almost dying from disease as a child) I have felt peace and calm.  I know that that peace and calm could only have come from God.  I need to remember that regardless of what is going on in my life, I need to "Look unto [Him] in every thought; doubt not, fear not"- Doctrine & Covenants 6:36.

Christianity

"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." - C. S. Lewis

Decorating Revolution

At work I have helped start a new decorating revolution. We call it Geek Chic:

Geek Chic
| gēk sh ēk | - noun
1. A decorating style associated with using computer parts and other technical materials for ornaments and other decor.
2. The use of humor related to computer science in art and decorating.

A cool Sandia National  Laboratories USB drive becomes an ornament.

This cute snowman was designed out of keyboard keys by my friend, Sara!

I have head several computer science students and professors say it is the coolest tree they have ever seen.  Start pinning, Pinterest users!

Perspective

Charles Chaplin gave this speech as part of The Great Dictator, a film that he wrote, starred in and prodcued.  The film condemned Nazi Germany and Hitler at a time when the United States was formally at peace with the nation.  It was gutsy and controversial and something that the world needed to hear.  We still need to hear this.

The Christmas story as told by kids

This may not completely follow the Bible's Christmas story, but it's very cute and very funny:

Merry Christmas!
